The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Samuel Hudson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolences

Condolence From: Richard Carbonetti (Carbo)
Condolence: As a young forester in the late 1970's I met Sam and worked with him on the CANUSA spruce budworm project. I found Sam to be a dedicated forester, but also a good man and friend. We often enjoyed laughing about many things, especially the politics of our state. His leadership in forestry was evident and I have many fine memories of time spent with Sam. Memories of Sam will always be with me. Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss. Sam lived a good life and made an impression on all he met.

Condolence: Dear Barbara, Lyle and extended Hudson family: Sam and I first crossed paths when me and my young family first arrived in St. Albans in 1957.
Over the years we spent many hours together, always to my great benefit, as he taught me how best to practice both love and steward-
ship of the land. Through most of our life as parents and grandparents Sam was our Christmas Tree Man. The community which he so selflessly
served extended far beyond Franklin County and even beyond his adopted Vermont to encompass New England. I will always consider a
special blessing in my life the chance meeting with Sam and Barbara as I arrived at a Fairfax eatery just as they were leaving just a few short months ago by which I was afforded the time to say a fond farewell.

Condolence From: Patti Bellows Smith
Condolence: Barbara and family, My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. Growing up on Main Street when I was young meant knowing all of my neighbors up and down the street. It was common to see Sam at various community events, including working on church suppers, and of course, chopping wood in his front yard. When I had an opportunity to speak with Sam, I was always greeted with a smile and a handshake. No matter how old we are, it is hard to lose a parent. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Condolence From: April
Condolence: Barbara, Lyle, Matt, Will - and Hudson/Harhan families - What a man this was. Gruff and kind, intense and humorous, dedicated, loving and civic-minded. You have experienced so much loss these last few years, Barbara, my heart goes out to you. I always enjoyed my visits with Sam and so respected and admired his transparency and bluntness. Thank you for bringing him over these past few years when you visited, Barbara - it was a gift. I wish we could have spent some time together when you were here to manage his care at the end. I know he must have been extremely grateful to you for all you did. Perhaps when you return we'll have a chance to connect in person.
In love, peace & gratitude,
april

Condolence: Barbara and family, so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. When I was a teen I was in a 4-H group that he was the adult leader for. I recall having some good times and I also recall that your Dad was a gentle and positive leader. Whenever I have we have visited Fairfax, as we go by that big white house, I think of your family. Again, my condolences.
