Obituary for Ruth Marion Paulin (Corse)

Ruth Marion Paulin (Corse)
Ruth Marion (Corse) Paulin, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 31, 2016 at The Manor in Morrisville. She was born on March 25, 1928 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Howard) Corse.
Ruth graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946 and married Henry Paulin in August of the same year. From a very young age, Ruth loved to sing and did so every chance she got, even if it meant walking a long distance to get someone to accompany her. As she grew into adulthood, she sang at several weddings, anniversaries, the Mother and Daughter banquet, and in the choir at the Cambridge Congregational Church where she was a member and a Sunday school teacher. She was born with a certain determination that followed her all the days of her life. Ruth took the most pride in her role as wife, mother, and homemaker and keeping a warm, inviting home was her main hobby until her children were grown. When the grandchildren arrived, she turned her attention to knitting and sewing for them. She also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
When her children were young, Ruth cleaned houses and did perms for the Cambridge village ladies so she could bring her children with her. As the children got older, Ruth worked in many places including the Cambridge Post Office, the Cambridge Community Lockers, the Cambridge Elementary School lunch program, teacher’s aide, and school secretary. When she finally got her drivers’ license, around 1970, she worked as Medical Secretary for Drs. Parker and Canfield, as a cashier at the Smugglers Notch Base Lodge, a temporary position at IBM, and finally, at Rudy’s Plumbing and Heating in Jeffersonville where she eventually retired. As most everyone knows, Ruth loved people and all of her jobs gave her the opportunity and the joy of working with many people both inside and outside of the community. However, after she retired, she looked forward to once again to cleaning, cooking, baking, playing the piano (by ear), knitting and sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. She was also a member, and remained active, in The Eastern Stars until her health started declining.
Ruth is survived by her children Lee Paulin and his wife Jane of Middlesex, Marjorie St. Cyr of North Carolina, her brother Dean Corse and wife Marietta of Hyde Park, sisters Barbara Hill, Eunice Barry, brother-in-law Glendon Pells, sister-in-law Barbara Howard, 6 grandchildren Monique Rich, Nathan Paulin and wife Christina, Jessica Paulin and partner Gary Rutledge, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her husband Henry Paulin, an infant son, son-in-law Victor St. Cyr, her brothers Jack Corse, Allen Howard and her sister Colleen Pells.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 6, 2017 at A W Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, from 2:00 until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Manor 577 Washington Highway, Morrisville, VT, St Jude's Hospital or the charity of your choice. The family also invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com.
The family would like to extend the most sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Philip Kiely, Lamoille Health& Hospice, and The Manor for the outstanding care they provided to our mother for so many years. There are not enough words to express our gratitude to The Manor staff for not only giving her the best possible care, but for also loving her and expressing that love so that the Manor became home to her and the place she wanted to stay. We love all of you.
