Obituary for Irene Lillian Kenyon (Martin)

Irene Lillian Kenyon (Martin)
Irene L Kenyon, 54, of Hinesburg Vermont passed away unexpectedly in her home September 20th 2015.
Irene was born July 26th 1961 in Albany NY to Beatrice Bessette and Maurice Martin SR. She grew up in Shelburne Vermont and attended CVU High School. Irene worked many years at CCTA making sure that the buses were clean for service. She cashiered at Jolly’s in Hinesburg and Hinesburg General. Most recently she co-founded Life’s Helpers, which is a non-profit organization that hosts flea markets, craft fairs, ect. to raise money for Breast Cancer, local fire departments, local food shelves and others.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years Ray Kenyon of Hinesburg. Daughter Lyn Kenyon-Giard and son-in-law Joshua Giard of Monkton. Daughter Karen Kenyon, partner Ben Emmons and their 3 children granddaughter Izzy, grandson Devin and granddaughter Rosie of Starksboro. Son Leonard Kenyon and girlfriend Crystal King of Huntington. Mother Beatrice Martin, sister Lillian Lowell, sister Mary Wheeler, brother Maurice Martin JR and many other half sisters and brothers. She also leaves behind several nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces, and close friends she considered family.
She is predeceased by her father Maurice Martin SR.
Irene enjoyed reading, crafting, bingo, helping others, and her family most of all. She always said her greatest accomplishment was the day her son graduated high school. Yet she was so proud of all of her children. One of her happiest times was spent planning and crafting for her daughter Lyn’s wedding. She spent many nights with her grandchildren Izzy, Devin and Rosie while their parents worked.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday October 3, 2015 at 2314 Hollow Road, Hinesburg, VT.
