Claire Contois (Gagne)
Claire Gagne Contois, 91, of Williston passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 22, 2018 in Burlington. She was born June 3, 1926 in Windsor an only child of Albert Gagne and Hilda A. (Trepanier) Gagne. She attended schools in Windsor and Royalton and graduated from Windsor High School in 1944. Then attended Burdett College in Boston, Massachusetts where she was a member of Theta Alpha Chi Sorority. Claire worked in the commercial field before marriage in 1951 to Charles R. Contois of Richford. She worked in banking and accounting endeavors, before working several years for Champlain Valley Eye Care and was a partner of The Paper Pushers
Claire was predeceased by her husband Charles in 2014. She is survived by a daughter Cheryl Graham of Littleton, New Hampshire a son Cary Contois and daughter-in-law Cindy Contois of Binghamton, New York, a daughter Cathy Hoeppner of Williston and a son Colby Contois and daughter-in-law Razelle H. Contois of Jericho.
Also surviving are grandson Shane Graham of South Carolina, granddaughter Chrystie O’neal of Essex, granddaughter Shanna Quebec Hill of Milton, grandson Cory Contois of Huntington, grandson Josh Quebec of Huntington, grandson Cody Contois of Boston, Massachusetts, granddaughter Cara Contois George of North Carolina, grandson Aaron Ritchie of Williston, grandson Charles Davis of New Jersey and Emily Harris of Montpelier, 10 great grandchildren Blaze, Alexis, Connor, Khalil, Evan, Kade, Adriana, Camden, Matthew and Anya.
There will be no public visitation per Claire’s wishes. A funeral will be held Friday March 2nd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Williston. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local humane society in Claire’s name.
The family would like to thank the VNA Adult Day Services and all of the staff at Starr Farm Nursing Center for their loving care of Claire.
