Obituary for Ronald Jean Perron

Ronald Jean Perron
Ronald Jean Perron, 69, of North Ferrisburgh passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at University of Vermont Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 11, 1948 son of the late Jean Marie and Dorothy (Perrotte) Perron. Ron graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1966, Vermont Technical College in 1968, after which he was proud to serve four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After the Navy he worked for Simmonds Precision/BF Goodrich Corp. for 34 years retiring in 2006.
Ron loved to keep his vehicles going forever. He still had his 1965 Buick Skylark that he purchased in 1968. He restored many of his vehicles as well as his father-in-laws vehicle, oftentimes to better than original condition, adding his own little upgrades. He loved his John Deere lawn mower (mowing for about 4-6 hours a week in the springtime) and big John Deere Compact Tractor and his older 1955 Farmall 100 tractor.
He was also a great musician since a young boy, playing the trombone in school, and went on to teach himself guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin and piano. He could often be found jamming with family and friends and at Bluegrass Festivals.
He had a great love of the outdoors as well: gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and especially turning our property into a magical park-like setting to attract the birds, deer, bobcats and bear and other little creatures of the woods that roamed our Paradise.
He was never afraid to tackle something new and would research it endlessly until it was completed to his satisfaction. Many times he was out working at all hours of the day (and often night as well) to redo the roof of his garage, the house, and was able to enjoy the front porch that he had always dreamed of having.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Merrie Perron of North Ferrisburgh, two sisters Helen King and husband Larry of Westford, Alice Paddock and husband Dean of Hadley, Massachusetts, his Aunt Bertha Perron of Vergennes, nieces and nephews Laura and Rodney Santaw of Tennessee, Larry and Pamela King of Swanton, Lonnie and Calen King of Hinesburg, Lisa and T.J. Brooks of Vergennes, Jessica and Eric Duseau of Massachusetts, Kristyn Paddock of Massachusetts, grand nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Samantha, Emily, Alison, Casey, Chasca, Zerima, Oliver, Mitchell, Evan, Natalie, Hunter, Dylan, Delaney, a great niece Paisley, several cousins and his 3 feline companions Gus, Benji and Abby.
We would like to thank the amazing doctors, nurses, palliative care team and staff at UVM Medical Center on Baird 4, Shepardson 4 and McClure 5, neighbors, family and friends who have helped us through the difficult journey.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street, Essex Junction, VT 05452. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Winooski with Monsignor Richard G. Lavalley officiating. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Memorial contributions in Ronald’s memory may be made to McClure Miller VNA Respite House, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT 05446 or to St. Francis Xavier Parish Charitable Trust Fund, 3 St. Peter Street, Winooski, VT 05404.
